    A San Antonio woman who brought her two children along as she smuggled more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine to the Alamo City has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison.

The first of two drivers who struck the man fled the scene, police said.

Man accused of sexual assault on woman who said she fled his home

The suspect, described as a man in his 60s, has fired on Bexar County deputies at least three times since 7 p.m. Tuesday. According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, the suspect arranged propane tanks around his home and has shot at them in an attempt to create an explosion.

A 911 caller reported that a woman was at his doorstep pleading for help.

Texas Vista Medical Center to close after 40 years

Texas Vista Medical Center is one of two hospitals with emergency services on the South Side. Formerly known as Southwest General Hospital, the facility recently rebranded as Texas Vista, adding new medical services and residency programs with University of Incarnate Word’s School of Ostheopathic Medicine.

Texas Vista currently houses about 175 patients and includes 800 employees. Steward Health Care Systems owns the facility.
